Dos and Don’ts of Water Damage
Do:
- Stop the water flow, if possible, by turning off water at source or main line
- If safe to do so, turn off circuit breakers supplying electricity to wet areas
- Remove small furniture items to minimize furniture stains or rust and to speed up drying
- Remove wet area rugs off hardwood floors
- Call Cameo Services ASAP to begin the drying process
Don’t:
- Enter rooms with standing water where electrical shock hazard may exist
- Enter rooms where ceiling sags due to water buildup
- Turn on any light fixture or operate TVs, vacuums, computers or other electrical items that may have suffered water damage… serious injury may result!
- Walk on wet surfaces any more than necessary in order to minimize safety hazards and to keep from spreading damage and possible contaminants
